City Surprise #345 12.05.2006 | 2 Comment(s)
Last night I was walking north on Macklind and I saw it. I could clearly see the lighted dome of the crazy hospital on Arsenal. The curved structure was extremely prominent on the horizon. It looked as if it was just on the next block. I've never been able to see the crazy hospital's dome before and I must admit I was kind of psyched and surprised when I looked north and there it was, shining brightly against the black sky. I'm definitely one of those people who loves me some crazy hospital, it's a gorgeous structure.

I realize this may sound strange, but I've always wanted to be able to see any city landmark from my neighborhood streets. I envy those that can see the Arch or the spire of St. Francis de Sales.

I wonder what downtown looks like from SH, or even Midtown and the CWE. It looks like I need to add a story or 10 stories to my house.

On Fyler, I used to see the hospital dome from my kitchen window. Now living downtown, I get to see the Eads and MLK bridges from my window. It's funny though, you slowly lose appreciation when you see such landmarks everyday until you finally again move some place that doesn't have any such view.

I know this is an old post, but wanted to respond. When walking down my street the spier of St. Francis de Sales frames the view of the end of the street. I can never get enough of that veiw and it sends chills every time I see it. It is amazing how something like that can provide endless inspiration and joy.
