I have to tell you, I'm feeling really bad for residents of North County. It seems like every time there is a storm of any consequence, thousands of unlucky NC residents seem to always lose power. In this day and age, to have thousands of people without electricity on the coldest day of the year just seems...backward. I realize that with all the ice we had, power lines and trees were going to come down, but it seems that up in NC there is no reliability to their power grid during inclement weather.
I feel fortunate that in the 2 and a half years I've lived in South City I've only lost my power once, and that was during the severe storms this past summer. Most of the time I can be confident my power will stay on. However, if I lost power on a consistent basis, as a paying customer, I'd be pretty mad...and feel pretty helpless.

It appears to be a block by block situation. KMOX reported that one third of City residents were without power as of Friday. I live a couple blocks from South Hampton, and we were without power starting Thursday night. It remained out until 6:30 last night. 11% of AmerenUE customers in 63116 were without power as of Sunday morning. Consider yourself lucky that you were spared.
