Many of you may have
seen or
read about St. Francis de Sales' steeple pulling away from the rest of the building. I can't help but be mesmerized by this church. The first time I drove by it I was dumbstruck...I just was not expecting this hulking, gorgeous building to suddenly appear along my route into downtown. I wanted to stop and take a photograph, but I needed to get to jury duty.
The scale of St. Francis de Sales is just wonderful. The architecture is flawless. Its steeple dominates the skyline from so many points in the City. St. Francis de Sales defines the word "landmark."
We'll never get a church like St. Francis de Sales built again, so we have to preserve what we have. To make a donation to the
steeple repair fund, use one of the contribution envelopes found in the church pews or mail a contribution directly to St. Francis de Sales Oratory, 2653 Ohio Ave., St. Louis, Mo. 63118. For more information, call 771-3100 or go to
