The placement of this statue has always baffled me, but who would've thought that it would have to brave rising waters in its first year of existence?

I work in the Met Building and have been walking to the riverfront every day to watch Lewis and Clark get swallowed by the river.

And every day, I wonder why they didn't place the statue on the raised area right in front of that. :)
